CONWAY STEWART 388 Fountain Pen

This pen is one of the earliest 388 pens
produced by CS as evidenced by the number being on the second line
of the barrel engraving - later pens had the 388 on the first line. Conway Stewart made very striking and
colourful pens during this period. The gold clip has the "CS" logo.
The cap is decorated with three bands - two narrow bands on either
side of a broad band. Trim is rolled gold. The imprint on barrel
reads: "The Conway Stewart, No 388" and around the barrel: "Made in
England". Ink filling is by the gold lever on the barrel - the
lever is also engraved with the "CS" logo. The original nib
reads:"Conway Stewart, 14ct GOLD". Solid gold 14 carat 'medium'
nib. Condition is near mint. Smooth and graceful writer.

Top
of the range CS 77 brought out to appeal to the fashionable and
high-status of the Conway Stewart clientele. The gold clip is held
in place by the silver screw stud - this combination was exclusive
to the top of the range pens. Two narrow and one medium gold bands
adorn the cap. Trim is rolled gold. The engraving on the barrel
reads: "Conway Stewart 77, Made in England". Ink filling is by the
gold lever on the barrel. The top-of-the-range nib is engraved with:
"DURO, Conway Stewart, 14ct GOLD". Solid gold 14 carat 'medium'
nib. The DURO nib, only made for the top-of-the-range pens, ensures
smooth writing. Condition is excellent. Length: 5 3/8" - 6 3/8".

A
rare fountain pen in pristine condition and with the pen box also in
superb condition. The history of the pen manufacturer will be
provided. The 'flat-top' which was the style in the 1920's together
with the gold clip makes this a very attractive fountain pen. The
very clear barrel engraving reads: "THE PAKARD PEN, Made in
England". The gold ink lever has a large paddle which enhances the
chased pattern of the cap and barrel. A 'medium' 14ct carat
gold nib ensures the writing is smooth. Trim is rolled gold. Length:
143mm-178mm.

The Duke of Windsor marries Wallis Simpson.
The
clip has the SWAN logo. The cap is adorned with a broad gold band.
Trim is gold filled. The engraving on the barrel reads: "SWAN SELF
FILLER, Mabie Todd & Co Ltd, Made in England" along with the Swan
logo. Ink filling is by the gold filler on the barrel. The No. 2 nib
is engraved with: "SWAN, 2,D,14ct-585, Mabie Todd & Co Ltd".
Solid gold 14 carat 'medium' nib. Writes very smoothly. Condition is

The 475 was one of the most popular models back in the 1930's. The
gold clip is held in place by a pointed black cap top. Trim is
rolled gold. The gold clip has the engraving: "CS" on a raised
diamond shape. The pen is designed not to have a band. The clear
engraving on the barrel reads: "The CONWAY PEN, CONWAY STEWART
LONDON, No. 475". Ink filling is by the gold lever ( which also
has the CS logo ) on the barrel. The nib is engraved with: "Conway,
Stewart, 14ct GOLD". Solid gold 14 carat 'medium' to 'broad' nib.
Condition is excellent. Smooth writer. Length: 5 1/8" - 6 3/8"

Today SWANs are highly regarded by collectors
and everyday users alike. The gold clip is decorated with an
engraving of a Swan. The cap has a solid gold 18 carat band and is
hallmarked. ( The gold band hallmark reads: Assay Office is LONDON,
Year is 1949 , Gold purity is 18ct, and Gold Refiner is JOHN MATTHEY
& Co of LONDON. ) A clear and crisp engraving on the barrel which
reads: "SWAN LEVERLESS PEN, Mabie Todd & Co Ltd, Made in
England, Trade Mark, PAT APP FOR".
The imprint on the wonderful large nib is: "SWAN,
4, 14ct, Mabie Todd & Co Ltd".
The pen is filled with ink by twisting the
end of the barrel.
Solid gold 14 carat 'medium' to 'broad'. Trim is rolled gold.
Superlative writer. Condition: Excellent.

Mabie Todd & Co first made Blackbird's towards the end of World War
I. This pen is from 1927 when the flat-top was very much in the
mode. The attractive 1920's clip epitomises this era. Around the cap
top is the engraving: "BLACKBIRD". The clear barrel engraving reads:
"BLACKBIRD's SELF-FILLING PEN, Mabie Todd & Co Ltd, Made in
England." Ink filling is by the gold lever on the barrel. The
original 'medium' to 'fine' 14 carat gold nib is engraved with:
"BLACKBIRD, 14ct, MT&Co Ltd, Made in England". Trim is rolled gold.
Excellent condition.

SUMMIT S125

The company started
business as Curzon, Lloyd and MacGregor in Liverpool then changed its
name to Curzon's in the 1920's and then to Summit a few years before
the WWII. The gold clip is ball-ended and is engraved:
"SUMMIT". The cap is decorated with a single gold band. Both the cap
and barrel are machined chased ie they have an engraved
design. Trim is rolled gold. The very clear barrel imprint
reads: "SUMMIT, S125, Made in England". Ink filling is by the
gold lever on the barrel. The 'medium' nib is engraved with: "SUMMIT,
14ct, GOLD". The pen writes very easily with a gliding flow of the
hand. Condition: near mint.

A beautiful and charming
fountain pen from the 1930's. The No. 55 was the most
prestigious CS pen in the 1930's. The gold clip has the raised diamond
mount on which is the CS logo. The cap is adorned with the
three gold bands ( two narrow bands surrounding a medium
band). The imprint on barrel reads: "The Conway Stewart, No.
55". Ink filling is by the gold lever on the
barrel. On the lever paddle is the raised diamond shape.
The original nib reads: "DURO, Conway, Stewart, 14ct GOLD".
The DURO nib was the exclusive nib fitted only to the top of
the range pens. Solid gold 14 carat 'medium'. Trim
is rolled gold. The pen glides over the paper.
Condition is excellent.

Diamond' which was Parker's clip trademark signifying lifetime
guarantee. The gold clip has the engraving:
"PARKER". The cap is decorated with one gold band.
The barrel imprint reads: "Made in Canada, PARKER VACUMATIC, PAT
No.318982, .5..". A lovely pen with vibrant
colours. The nib has an engraving which reads:
"14K, PARKER, VACUMATIC, REG TMS". The 14 carat gold nib
writes with a 'fine' to 'medium' line. Ink filling
is by the plunger beneath the blind cap on the barrel. Trim
is gold filled. Condition is excellent. A great

In the 1920's Mentmore Pens
produced pens largely for the wholesale market however in the 1930's
they produced high quality pens for the consumer market. The gold
washer type clip has the "M" logo engraving. The cap also has one gold
band. Trim is rolled gold. The engraving on the barrel reads:
"MENTMORE, AUTOFLOW, PAT APP FOR". Ink filling is by the button beneath
the blind cap at the end of the barrel. The nib is engraved with:
"MENTMORE, OSMI, IRIDIUM, 14ct GOLD". Solid gold 14 carat 'medium' nib.
The nib glides over the paper. Condition is excellent. Length: 5" – 6
3/8"

Identical to the PARKER Jnr
so was certainly made by the Valentine's factory just before Parker
took them over. The non engraved gold clip is
identical to Parker's design. Looks immaculate in its smooth
and glossy body. The nib has an engraving which reads:
"Warranted, 14ct, 1st Quality". The 14 carat gold nib writes
with a 'medium' to 'fine' line. Ink filling is by
the gold button beneath the blind cap on the barrel. Trim is
gold filled. Condition is near mint. Excellent
writer. Length: 12cm - 14.6cm
A great pen from a superb stable - and a wonderful
big nib.
