Mabie Todd & Co first made Blackbird's towards the end of World War
I.
This pen is from 1929 when the flat-top was very much in the mode.
The attractive 1920's clip epitomises this era. The
engraving on the clip: "BLACKBIRD" along with the Blackbird logo.
Around the cap top is the engraving: "BLACKBIRD". The
clear barrel engraving reads: "BLACKBIRD's
SELF-FILLING PEN, Mabie Todd & Co Ltd, Made in England." Ink filling is by the
gold lever on the barrel. The 14 carat gold nib is engraved with:
"BLACKBIRD, 14ct,
MT&Co Ltd,
Made in England". Trim is rolled gold.
